Dr. Nathan Gilpin

Hey, I’m glad you’re here.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Men’s Health Specialist

No, I haven’t personally undergone prostate surgery, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care a ton about helping men get through it with more confidence and ease.

Professionally, I started my career in general orthopedic physical therapy as an officer in the United States Public Health Service. I worked on the Navajo Nation reservation, and the duality of structure, protocols, and rigid clinical guidelines along with patients who were living much more complex and dynamic lives helped me lean into the balance of research evidence and humanness. I eventually transitioned to the specialty of pelvic health partly due to a nudge from my wife who is also a physical therapist as well as the recognition that we could do better for people and talk about ALL parts of their lives including things like bowel, bladder, and sexual function without making it weird.

After this transition, I’ve had the opportunity to work with countless men who were navigating prostate cancer.  I have been inspired by their capability to buckle down and keep moving forward despite the fear and uncertainty I know they were feeling, but I’ve also seen that it doesn’t have to be such a grind. It has been a true honor to be able to take away the late nights scrolling for answers, be a safe space to talk about absolutely anything, provide a roadmap for the best outcomes, and then be able to actually walk alongside these men on their journeys.
